The Henry Jones Art Hotel, Hobart Tasmania

Our first night's accommodation was at the famous Henry Jones Art Hotel.

"Standing in the historic position where Hobart was first settled 200 years ago, a row of historic warehouses dating from the 1820’s and a former IXL jam factory have been sensitively transformed into an enthralling and luxurious, first class experience on the edge of Hobart’s waterfront. The hotel is itself a fusion of art, heritage, technology and tradition. From its original and beautifully crafted staircase to the restored machinery and the magnificent all-glass Atrium, The Henry Jones Art Hotel reflects the fascinating influences of its rich colonial past and early trading history with India and China.

Rated as one of the best 60 new hotels in the world, The Henry Jones Art Hotel has won over 30 major accolades including “Best Overall Hotel in Australia” at the 2005 AHA National Awards, two Australian Tourism Awards and multiple international awards from Conde Nast Traveller such as "Best Hotel Australasia and South Pacific 2008" Reader's Choice and "Best Leisure Hotel Australasia and South Pacific 2007"."

The front of the Hotel, which still keeps its old Jam Factory facade.

They have then transformed the entrance to something a little more "modern" which still keeping the original sandstone.

Inside the converted warehouse, where the restaurants are situated.

All the hotel and architectual awards won by Henry Jones Art Hotel.

An example of Man Porn. The Boy trying to work out how they've converted the warehouse, using an old photo that is hanging up in the outdoor dining area.

The beautifully converted rooms, with the original sandstone walls and the original wooden beams from the old factory. Simply amazing!

The lounge area...

Modern Bathroom - and the shower the size of half the bedroom (we werent sure why they wasted such important space, but ho hum, it was great to have a shower as though you were standing in the middle of a football field).

The dark but very uber cool corridors, with the hanging original art works.
