Rainy Day In New York

Today, I had planned to go across to the Statue of Liberty, but as you can tell from my photo, it was a pretty bleak day - so i am saving it for tomorrow!

So........Ho?

Today, I went shopping in SoHo, one of New York's trendiest neighbourhoods! So many sales, not enough baggage space to bring it all back!

Holy Starbucks!

There are over 200 Starbucks stores in New York alone. That is a whole lot of caffeine!!!

The Legal Precinct, New York

Cue the Law & Order Theme Music! Yes, sir, these are the steps where the Law & Order opening section begins, and scenes are often shot on these steps and around the area. Unfortunately, Law & Order cannot use the actual court rooms, so they shoot them in studios just down the road.

"Doo, doo, doo, doo-doo-doo-doo"

Where Is Gordon?

He's on Wall Street, of course!!!!

There I was standing by the World's Largest Casino - the New York Stock Exchange!

Okay, there was no Gordon Gecko, but there was me! And there were a whole heap of security guards, fences, and toffey-nosed stockbrokers hanging about.

I wanted to offer them a $5 note but I didn't think they'd find the amusing side of my joke.

It was hard to get close to the doors, as they were blocked off by concrete blocks and fences. Operators of concrete blocks and fences in New York must do a roaring trade. They are everywhere. Security, security, security.

I love the guy leaning against the fence. From a distance, he looked a bit like Mr. Big from Sex in the City!

Wall Street!

This is the closest I could get but...woah, that American flag is huge!

I wonder what is going on inside that building? Word is that the Dow Jones has rallied for seven days in a row and has finally made it into positive territory for the first time this year.

Recession, smession!

It would have been far too cliche for me to walk up to the security guard and say "you're fired!".

What used to be the busiest little jewelery shop in the neighborhood!

Star Spotting! Who Is this Celebrity?

The next celebrity spotting came today as I was walking down through Tribeca, one of the districts of New York. Apparently, this alley is the one of the most popular alleys for film and movie shows because it has good lighting and good facilities nearby (like a Starbucks?)...

...So technically, its one of the most dangerous alleys in all of New York - its had the most "murders" than any other alley....

.....but today it was the set of a TV Commercial for MTV's Video Music Awards and the star was hidden amongst the hustle and bustle....

But out he came, and it was Russell Brand, the all-outrageous and offensive British comedian who is going to be hosting MTV's VMA's soon...

He walked straight past me and asked if I "was aw-rite" in his funny British ascent, and then said "thank you very much" to a couple of other people. I just stood there with my mouth open and my camera poised. He then walked off and hopped into the van.

I then stuck around the set to see how the TV Commercial was being produced... I also spoke with a couple of the background dancers, who told me all about some of the work that they do and their hopes of "being discovered".

Russell Brand then went to work, filming a short dance and song scene.

I then watched from the back, where they had TVs lined up to do the editing.

What great fun!

Why Should The Cowboy Have All The Fun?

Why only have a Naked Cowboy when you can also have a Naked Cowgirl?

I gave her $5 for having the...erm.... guts to do it.

New York's Finest....

America, you are in safe hands....

I jest, I jest. The police presence in New York is phenomenal and I am sure the citizens of New York are very grateful.

Broadway, Baby!

Pimp My Ride!

The New York Police Department's Secret Police-Chase Weapon.

The Empire State Building!

First things first was a climb up the Empire State Building. We had tickets to Broadway at 3pm and figured it was safer to fit in this as opposed to a Hop-On-Hop-Off tour. It was a close call to get back to Broadway because the queues to get in and out of the Empire State Building were tough going (particularly for a girl with a healing fractured back!).

Star Spotting In New York - Dr Phil!

I was walking out of my hotel to grab a coffee and next thing you know, I have walked into a Dr. Phil episode! I thought of standing in the background with a "Hi Mom" sign, but decided against it and instead, took photos like a good Paparazzo does!

A Whole Lot of Nakedness in Times Square!

The Naked Cowboy!!!!! I remember seeing him on the news!! And I was walking through Times Square when I saw a crowd of people taking photos of him.....

He had all of the right moves to show his perfect physique!

The girls were LOVING it... it was hilarious!

And of course I was going to go up and get a whole lot of loving from The Naked One!

Lets just say he whispered something only a Naked Cowboy could whisper into my ear, as the photo was being taken!!! HA HA HA

Hence the look of shock on my face after this!
