Like anywhere in Asia, there are parts of Bali (in particular around Kuta - where I avoided like a plague) which are not so pretty, and in Ubud, where we were based, there was an essence of "concrete jungle" about certain parts. This is what happens when such a large population squeezes into a small area.....
But in Ubud, particularly, the concrete jungle is only a minor problem, as most parts are green, lush and beautiful.
